The Event

The inaugural Welsh Open Championships takes place on the new multi-lane course that has successfully hosted the Home Countries International and the European Universities Regatta.

The event is ideally placed in the calendar to sharpen crews at the start of the season and two weeks before the National Schools Regatta. Senior racing  (incl. J18 and J16) is offered over 1500m, whilst J14, J15 and veteran racing will be raced off the start pontoon over 1000m.

The course is located on the stunning Cardiff Bay lake, finishing amongst the iconic landmarks of the National Assembly (Senedd) and the Wales Millennium Centre.
